The threats came amid forecasts of a sharp cold snap down to -30°C in early February.

Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin stated that Russian deputies are demanding a strike against Ukraine using so-called “retaliatory weapons” starting next week. He wrote this on his Telegram channel .

According to Volodin, the State Duma’s deputies are insisting on the use of “more powerful weapons” to achieve the goals of the “special military operation”—as Russia calls the war against Ukraine.

“State Duma deputies insist on the use of more powerful weapons – ‘weapons of retaliation’ – and the achievement of the goals of the ‘special military operation,'” Volodin stated.Video of the day

He linked the new threats to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s refusal to visit Moscow, stating that because of this, Ukrainians will face “new problems” “as early as next week.”

The Russian authorities’ threats came amid forecasts of a sharp cold snap in Ukraine. According to forecasters, temperatures in most regions could drop to -20 to -27°C on February 1-3, with some regions experiencing temperatures as low as -30°C.
