The tactics of the Armed Forces in relation to the occupied Crimea and southern Ukraine in general so far consist in exhausting the resources of the Russian invaders’ army. First of all, this is maintaining and strengthening fire control over the Mariupol-Chongar route, which the Russian army tried to use as a land corridor to Crimea.
Strikes in this direction are already significantly complicating the logistics of Russian troops. And maintaining fire control for a long enough period will lead to the fact that the Crimean “Russian grouping will become operationally impractical, ” says military expert, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Grabsky.
Corridor to Crimea
“Of course, we cannot stop and completely interrupt movement through this corridor. As long as there is no physical presence of Ukrainian military personnel there, attempts to break through this corridor will take place. And our task now is to create conditions under which these attempts to break through will be minimal,” Grabsky believes.
The logic is simple: maintaining and strengthening fire control over Russian logistics in Northern Tavria and Crimea will lead to a situation where the occupiers’ needs for resources will significantly exceed supply capabilities.
Operational inexpediency
“These are what we call actions that should lead to the enemy grouping in Northern Tavria and Crimea being operationally impractical. That is, they actually lose control, management, cannot perform their combat missions, but at the same time will require support and some kind of support, which will cause an outflow of resources,” the colonel explained.
According to him, creating a shortage of resources for Russian troops is one of the tasks of the Ukrainian strategy in this direction.
Moreover, Ukraine has been systematically working on Russian military infrastructure in Crimea for at least two years.
There is simply not enough strength.
“This operation, in fact, began with the massive use of our drones and the task of striking air defense facilities and command posts, which led to a certain imbalance in air defense in Crimea and the physical inability of the occupiers to organize at least some measures to cover such vital facilities. That is, they simply lack the strength,” says Grabsky.
The Crimean bridge, in his opinion, can no longer fulfill its former role in providing support for the military group. Sea transport “is also quite difficult to use, because for this you need to have the necessary number of ships.”
As OBOZ.UA reported, recently the special unit of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s GUR Group 13 added to the list of destroyed occupiers’ equipment in Crimea – military intelligence operators burned a Russian anti-aircraft missile and gun complex “Pantsir C1” and a military crane. The estimated cost of the destroyed complex is about $15 million.
