The Russian government has approved a list of countries and territories that commit “unfriendly actions” against Russia, Russian companies and citizens. This was reported by the press service of the government.
The list was prepared as part of a decree by Russian President Vladimir Putin allowing Russian citizens, companies and the state itself to pay large debts to creditors from “unfriendly” countries in rubles. The list included:
- Australia,
- Albania,
- Andorra,
- United Kingdom (including the island of Jersey and the controlled overseas territories of Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Gibraltar),
- member states of the European Union,
- Iceland,
- Canada,
- Liechtenstein,
- micronesia,
- Monaco,
- New Zealand,
- Norway,
- South Korea,
- San Marino
- North Macedonia,
- Singapore,
- USA,
- Taiwan,
- Ukraine,
- Montenegro,
- Switzerland,
- Japan.
All transactions with companies from unfriendly countries will be approved by the government commission for the control of foreign investment, the press service of the government notes.
Under the new procedure, a Russian or foreign company must ask for permission to deal by providing information about the applicant, including a document on the beneficial owners of the company. The committee will review the documents and make a decision.
“At the same time, permission to conduct a transaction with the designation of the conditions for its execution may be issued,” the message says.
