The russian authorities have introduced passport control at the entrance to occupied Crimea: what is happening?

01/25/2025

Russian authorities have introduced full passport control at the entrance to occupied Crimea via the Kerch Bridge. This decision is related to the decree of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin on the introduction of an increased level of response in Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory.

This was announced by the so-called Minister of Transport of the occupied Crimea, Alexander Ovdienko. The reason for this decision was the decrees of the President of the Russian Federation, which provide for an increased level of security in Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory, in particular, the introduction of a “yellow” level of terrorist threat.

This decision applies not only to the Kerch Bridge, but also to the entire territory of the Temryutsky district.

Ovdienko urged drivers and passengers to carry original documents to ensure quick passage through passport control. The Kerch Bridge is the main route to occupied Crimea from Russia and is also actively used for military supplies to the peninsula.

It is worth noting that the protective barriers and fortifications that the occupying country Russia is building near the Kerch Bridge are rapidly collapsing. The storm season and constant attacks by Ukrainian drones are doing their job. Moreover, we are talking not only about boom, floating barriers, but also about stronger engineering structures on the western and southwestern coast of the peninsula. This situation creates a window of opportunity for the Ukrainian Defense Forces. It can be predicted that massive missile and drone attacks on the territory of Crimea will become a constant phenomenon.

As OBOZ.UA reported, in early December it became known that in a month the number  of barges in the Kerch Strait,  installed as boom barriers to protect against naval drones, had halved. Then only 18 units were recorded between Tuzla Island and the Kerch Peninsula – compared to 34 vessels at the beginning of December.

  1. The cockroaches are getting nervous. We’ve determined this a few days ago already. I hope that something major is coming up for the peninsula, something we’ve long been waiting for. We’ll see…

  2. The russian authorities have introduced passport control at the entrance to occupied Crimea.

As a first step for returning Crimea to Ukraine a logical step.
