The public prosecutor asked the court to sentence to real prison terms three 16-year-old teenagers from Kansk in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, who were detained in the case of an attempt to blow up the FSB building in the Minecraft video game.
According to Novaya Gazeta, referring to the teenagers’ parents and lawyers, the prosecutor requested nine years in prison for Nikita Uvarov. For two other defendants, whose names the publication does not disclose, the state prosecutor requested six years, six months and six years, five months in an educational colony. Earlier, human rights activists reported that in addition to Uvarov, Denis Mikhailenko and Bogdan Andreev are also involved in the case.
The prosecutor also asked the court to impose a fine of 50,000 rubles on each of the accused.
The case of teenagers is considered by the 1st Eastern District Military Court of Khabarovsk at an off-site meeting in Kansk. The process takes place behind closed doors. It has not been announced when the verdict will be delivered.
The three teenagers are accused of being trained “for the purpose of further terrorist activities” and of making and buying explosives. The case against them was initiated in June 2020, when they were 14 years old.
The teenagers were detained after leaflets appeared in Kansk, including on the building of the FSB, in support of a graduate student of Moscow State University Azat Miftakhov . From the correspondence of the detained schoolchildren, the investigators learned that they built the FSB building in Minecraft, which they decided to “blow up,” wrote Baza. According to other data cited by NGS24, the teenagers were preparing to blow up the real building of the FSB. Nikita Uvarov denied all accusations, two other defendants first gave confessions, and then recanted them.
