The parliament of the last country that resisted Sweden’s entry into NATO gave the green light

Hungarian deputies almost unanimously supported the expansion of the Alliance.

The Hungarian Parliament on Monday, February 26, supported Sweden’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO). This is reported by 444.hu.

188 Hungarian deputies voted for the adoption of the corresponding decision, 6 were against. However, for the law to come into force, the signature of the President of Hungary is still needed.

“Since parliament supported the candidacy of Tamás Szuljok for the presidency of Hungary on the very day that Sweden joins NATO, (Speaker) László Kövér, who publicly opposes Sweden’s entry, will be deprived of the right to sign the law,” the newspaper writes.

  1. Looks like the deal about the sale of four more Gripen jets to Hungary (recently reported here) did bear fruit! That’s a positive development. For Ukraine, too, because now, safeguarded by Nato, the Swedish government may dare to provide Gripens for the AFU, too. That would be a good addition to the airforce, fighter jets which are more modern than the F-16, can use the long range Meteor missiles, and have STOL capability that enables them to operate from improvised airstrips. I hope there’ll be good news about this this year. 🤞😎🇸🇪

  2. “The NATO Welcoming Sweden Is Larger, More Determined”
“The alliance’s expansion, with Finland last year and soon Sweden, is blowback from the invasion of Ukraine that Russia’s president may not have calculated.”

“Critics consider their actions to be too slow and too small, but NATO is spending more money on defense, making more tanks, artillery shells, drones and jet fighters, putting more troops on Russia’s borders and approving more serious military plans for any potential war — while funneling billions of dollars into Ukraine’s efforts to blunt Russia’s ambitions.”

    • I notice the russians are very quiet over this. No histrionics from the kremlin about NATO expansion, which proves the invasion of Ukraine had nothing to do with Ukraine joining NATO.

  3. Finally Nato read my message that Scandinavia and the Baltic States must be a united military sector within the alliance! 👍🇩🇰🇸🇪🇳🇴🇮🇸🇫🇮🇱🇹🇪🇪🇱🇻✌
