Another rotation in the high command took place in the Russian army . In particular, the Russians have replaced the commander of the Western Military District.

According to the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Sergey Yuryevich Kuzovlev was removed from his post. He managed to stay in this post for only about a month.

But the Western Military District of the RF Armed Forces was headed by Lieutenant General Yevgeny Nikiforov. Prior to his appointment, he served as Chief of Staff – First Deputy Commander of the Eastern Military District.

“It is known that at present General Nikiforov is at the command post of the Zapad group of troops in Boguchar, Voronezh region. The formal reason for Kuzovlev’s dismissal was the failure to prepare an offensive in the Liman direction. However, in fact, this is a manifestation of internal political struggle in the top leadership of the Russian Federation – a person from the Shoigu-Gerasimov orbit is being exchanged for a candidate from the Surovikin-Prigozhin group,” the GUR noted.

General Nikiforov became the fourth commander of the Western War since the start of the full-scale invasion.
