To show the direction it’s headed, the Krasnov regime has stopped investigating putinaZi war crimes. Unthinkable until now.
It is even discussing re-opening commercial air links. We could see Aeroflot planes landing in the U.S. again. Horrible!
The U.S. sensibly maintained its military superpower status while others hollowed theirs out.
I’m afraid the UK is one of the biggest culprits. We used to spend 12% of GDP in the Cold War years. We had the third biggest navy and an army of 450,000 in the 1950’s. There were 50,000 troops alone in “The British Army of the Rhine.” They were armed with independent tactical nukes, which we don’t even have any more. We only have the Trident strategic nukes, which the U.S. still has some control over.
Why did we decimate our armed forces?
The answer is : the socialist welfare state. Labour regimes redirected tax income to providing free healthcare, housing and an enormous range of welfare benefits.
As George Orwell observed : “pacifists are the allies of fascism.”
“The NATO horse is dead. Europe must ride with Ukraine now.”
Yes, NATO is a hollow club with many half-hearted loafers. But, do not use the term “Europe” for riding with Ukraine. Clearly, there are numerous European countries that Ukraine would not want to have in its club, either through their pro-mafia stance, or by their lethargic and weak help given to Ukraine throughout this terrible war, as if this concerned them in only a minimum way.
“Pacifism. Pacifism is objectively pro-Fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war effort of one side you automatically help that of the other. Nor is there any real way of remaining outside such a war as the present one. In practice, ‘he that is not with me is against me’. The idea that you can somehow remain aloof from and superior to the struggle, while living on food which British sailors have to risk their lives to bring you, is a bourgeois illusion bred of money and security.”

George Orwell writing during WW2, said :

Being neutral only encourages the aggressor, criminal, or the corrupt.
