Due to heavy losses of personnel, the Russian occupation forces are throwing tankmen and artillerymen into the assaults, not infantrymen. In particular, this situation is observed in the Zaporizhia direction on the front line.

This was stated in a comment to Ukrinform by Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, on Sunday, May 4. According to him, the enemy army does not give up hope of reaching the administrative borders of the Dnipropetrovsk region by May 9.

“According to our intelligence, in the Zaporizhia direction, after several days of intensive attacks, the Russians have run out of assault infantrymen, and tankers, artillerymen, and servicemen of combat support units (sappers, anti-aircraft gunners, signalmen, and others) are being transferred to the assault units of “disposable soldiers,” Voloshyn said. 

The spokesman noted that the command of the aggressor state demands that the occupiers achieve at least some kind of “victory” by May 9. For example, to reach the administrative border of the Dnipropetrovsk region or take control of a bridgehead near Zaporizhia.

At the same time, the spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces claims, there is simply no one to carry out these tasks.

Because of this, the enemy throws everyone in “non-assault” units into the “cannon fodder”.

“This causes indignation, especially among artillerymen, who need to be specially trained and prepared, and they are thrown into capturing Ukrainian trenches,” Voloshyn said.

As OBOZ.UA reported, Russian attack aircraft in the Donetsk region tried to break through Ukrainian positions on motorcycles. However, drones of Azov fighters prevented this.
