The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has published a draft departmental order on the procedure for making decisions that the stay of a foreigner or a stateless person is undesirable in Russia. The Vedomosti newspaper drew attention to the document .
The authors of the initiative proposed to cancel the time limit for making a decision on the undesirability of a person’s stay in Russia. Now the term for consideration of materials should not exceed a month after their registration in the central office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The draft order also says that when making a decision, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will first check whether a foreigner has a family in Russia. The document does not specify whether this will prevent or, conversely, help the decision on undesirability.
