Now it’s up to the Senate and US President Joe Biden.

The US House of Representatives by a majority vote approved the bill proposed by Speaker Mike Johnson on spending on military and financial assistance to Ukraine . This is evidenced by a live broadcast from the US Congress.

Before considering the bill on its merits, the House of Representatives rejected four amendments proposed by opponents of aid to Ukraine.

How much money is allocated by the adopted bill?

The overall aid package for Ukraine provides for US budget expenditures of $60.84 billion. They will be distributed in the following areas:

  • 23.2 billion for the purchase of defense goods for the US Army to replace those transferred to Ukraine, as well as to pay for defense services provided to Ukraine;
  • 23.2 billion for the purchase of weapons directly for Ukraine;
  • 11.3 billion for ongoing US military operations in the region;
  • 13.8 billion for the procurement of advanced weapons systems, defense products and defense services;
  • 26 million to finance a system of supervision and control over aid and equipment provided to Ukraine.
  • 7.85 billion for direct financial assistance to the state budget of Ukraine (the US President will have the right to write off half of this debt).

It is not yet clear why exactly the spending items listed in the bill do not coincide with the announced total amount of $60.84 billion. We are awaiting detailed explanations from American officials.
