Compared to last year, the number of child deaths has increased.

Rescuers have released shocking data – in Ukraine, over 60 people have died in bodies of water in just two days, including children. According to the State Emergency Service, 66 people died in bodies of water in Ukraine over the past weekend, including 10 minors.

“The largest number of victims was in the Kyiv, Cherkasy and Dnepropetrovsk regions!” the department noted.

It is said that 11 people, including 4 children, were rescued.

For example, yesterday morning rescuers were involved in search operations in the village of Galitsinovo in the Nikolaev region, where, according to information from local residents, a man born in 1963 disappeared in the waters of the Bug estuary. After inspecting the reservoir, his body was found at a distance of approximately 150 m from the shore.

By evening, the tragedy had already occurred in the village of Slivino, where a man born in 1937 drowned while swimming in the Southern Bug River. His body was removed from the reservoir by local residents.

An emergency situation also occurred in the village of Stary Martynov in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

“The rescuers received a message from police officers on the evening of July 14 that three men had drowned while relaxing on the Dniester River: born in 1994, 2003 and 2004,” the State Emergency Service reported.

Divers examined 5,600 square meters of the river bottom; at 20:40, the body of one deceased person was found 10 meters from the shore, and at 22:00, about 50 meters from the shore, the bodies of two more men were found.

In addition, in the Odessa region, in the village of Sukhoi Liman, a man born in 1998 dove into the water while swimming and disappeared. Yesterday morning, divers found the drowned man.

According to the State Emergency Service, since the beginning of 2024, a total of 672 people have died in water bodies in Ukraine, including 76 children.

“We urge you to be careful when relaxing near water: evaluate your physical capabilities, choose only places suitable for swimming, do not swim too far, especially in unfamiliar bodies of water, keep an eye on children! And do not forget – water not only refreshes in the heat, but also takes life,” the rescuers emphasize.

According to statistics, the number of people killed in water, especially children, has increased this year.

According to the State Emergency Service, as of the beginning of August 2023, 675 people died in water bodies in Ukraine, including 67 children. It was said that people often choose completely unsuitable and unfamiliar water bodies, lakes, artificial ponds for swimming. And also – swimming while intoxicated, self-confidence, unauthorized presence of children in the water. These are the most common causes of tragedies.
