Employees of the US special service were interested in Dmytro Simes’ country estate in Virginia, not far from Washington.
Employees of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) searched the Patria estate in Huntley (Rappahannock County, Virginia), which belongs to Russian-American political scientist and host of the Russian First Channel Dmitry Simes. This is reported by the Rappahannock News .
The representative of the special service, Samantha Shero, noted that the search warrant was issued by the court. At the same time, she refused to disclose the details of the investigation, within the framework of which these measures were carried out, adding only that it will continue.
His neighbor told reporters that Symes’ estate had been searched. According to the man, FBI agents arrived at the estate of the political scientist in the morning of August 13, entered the interior, and then began to remove various items from there. The next day they came again and searched again.
Rappahannock District Court documents state that the 536,600 sq. m. m was bought by Simes and his wife in the summer of 2021 for $1.63 million. The political scientist himself told the publication that he was outside the United States.
According to Symes, he is aware of “some activity” on the estate, but does not know exactly what is happening there, and has not received search warrants. “I’m confused and worried,” he shared.
The mass media also notes that Dmytro Simes publishes The National Interest magazine, he is closely connected with the election headquarters of the US presidential candidate from the Republican Party, Donald Trump. So, the political scientist’s name was mentioned in the documents related to the investigation of the special prosecutor Robert Mueller about the alleged interference in the presidential elections that led to Trump’s victory.
