Members of the European Parliament call to support Ukraine until its victory in the war, because this victory can contribute to real changes in Russia and the establishment of democracy.

The European Parliament calls for the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to be prosecuted for the murder of Kremlin critic Oleksiy Navalny.

According to a message on the website of the European Parliament, 506 deputies voted “for” the corresponding resolution, 9 voted “against” and 32 “abstained”.

In particular, the resolution states that the Russian state and President Vladimir Putin personally bear criminal and political responsibility for the death of the strongest opponent, Alexei Navalny. In this connection, Putin should be held accountable.

The European Parliament strongly condemns Navalny’s murder and fully supports his wife Yulia Navalny in her determination to continue his work.

MEPs warn that Navalny’s murder is another sign of increasing and systematic repression in Russia and demand an independent and transparent international investigation into his murder to reveal the truth, ensure accountability and establish justice.

The resolution notes that Russia’s political system is controlled by a consolidated authoritarian regime with rampant corruption, which uses election fraud as a guise of democracy and concentrates all power in the hands of Putin.

EP deputies believe that supporting Ukraine is the best answer to the Kremlin.

In particular, since February 2022, when Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, the Russian authorities have intensified the suppression of opposition voices in the country.

MEPs advocate that the European Union, its member states and like-minded partners around the world continue political, economic, financial and military support for Ukraine, which, in their opinion, is the best response to the current repressive and aggressive practices of the Kremlin regime.

The resolution emphasizes that a decisive victory for Ukraine can lead to real changes in the Russian Federation, especially in terms of de-imperialization, decolonization and refederalization, which are necessary conditions for the establishment of democracy in Russia.
