The Russian invaders continue to put pressure on the positions of the Ukrainian military, in particular, significant activity of the occupiers is currently being recorded in the Lyman direction. At the same time, the Defense Forces are stopping the Russian advance and inflicting heavy losses on them.
This was stated on TV by Viktor Tregubov, head of the communications department of the Joint Forces Group. He added that a difficult situation is also observed in the Kupyansk area.
The enemy is active, but does not achieve significant progress.
“As of now, the greatest activity of the Russians is in the Lyman direction…. For the Russians, the Lyman direction is extremely important in their plans to attack the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration, but they are not advancing there at all. They are simply dying there against the Ukrainian defense line,” Tregubov explained.
According to the military, the situation in the Kupyansk direction remains more tense. In particular, on the eastern bank of the Oskil River, Russian troops continue to actively press, accumulate forces and concentrate a significant number of unmanned systems units, trying to strike at Ukrainian logistics.
“It’s a problem, but it’s a problem we’re fighting,” he noted.
As the spokesman for the Joint Forces Group emphasized, Russian troops tried to break through to the city on the right bank of the Oskil River, but did not achieve significant success. Attempts to advance were made through Golubivka and areas west of it, as well as with access to the outskirts of the city, but they failed to gain a foothold there.
At the same time, in the Volchansk direction, an intensification of hostilities is being recorded, although the overall situation remains controlled. At the same time, in the Velyky Burlutsk direction, Russian forces have gone on the defensive, trying to strengthen their positions.
“They’ve been so unlucky there in the last month that there’s essentially only one village left under their control,” he noted.
Recall, earlier Tregubov said that the enemy’s spring offensive is gradually losing intensity, and in some areas the occupation troops are forced to retreat under pressure from the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The Armed Forces of Ukraine record a decrease in the effectiveness of attacks despite their high number. The most noticeable changes are observed in the Lymansky, Kupyansky and Velyky Burlutsky directions.
As OBOZ.UA reported, the Russian invaders have been accumulating reserves for two months in a row, and now, with large forces on the approaches to Kupyansk, they are increasing pressure on the Lyman direction. But despite quite active infantry assaults, the overall situation in the direction is “quite stable,” Ukrainian defenders believe.
