The resuscitator who treated Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny said that “the diagnosis of thromboembolism that they are trying to make is inappropriate.”

Doctor Alexander Polupanov was in a group of doctors who came from Moscow to the Omsk hospital after Navalny’s poisoning in 2020, Novaya Gazeta recalls . “What is written in the media and stated by the Federal Penitentiary Service that Navalny’s blood clot broke off and it was a thromboembolism cannot be confirmed, because no intravital manipulations were carried out to determine this disease and no autopsy was performed. And the way they describe it, that he felt unwell, an ambulance arrived, and they concluded that a blood clot had broken loose – such a conclusion can only be made based on the results of the autopsy,” the specialist explained.

Polupanov stressed that the oppositionist had no risk of thromboembolism when he examined him in 2020.
