The country will do this after an almost three-year break.

In the near future, the Czech Republic will send a new ambassador to Russia. He will be the former Deputy Minister of Defense of the country Daniel Kostoval. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

“Key countries that are strategic allies of the Czech Republic – such as Great Britain, France, Germany, Poland and the USA – have ambassadors in Russia. I wish the ambassador a lot of strength in this difficult mission to promote Czech interests,” noted the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavsky

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled that Daniel Kostoval held various positions in the department, namely:

  • director of the security policy department,
  • director of the department of Northern and Eastern Europe,
  • general director for non-European countries.

Also, from 1998 to 2002, he worked at the Permanent Mission of the Czech Republic to NATO.

“He worked at the Czech Embassy in Moscow (2003-2006) and the Czech Embassy in Washington (2009-2011). In 2013, he was appointed First Deputy Minister of Defense. Subsequently, until the end of 2018, he held the position of Deputy Minister of Defense for Strategy, Foreign Relations and planning, and later – on matters of armaments and procurement,” the message added.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Koshtoval should start working as an ambassador in Moscow in the first months of 2025.

The Czech Republic and Ukraine – the latest news

As UNIAN wrote, the company “Ukrainian armored vehicles” and the Czechoslovak Group agreed on the joint production of 155-mm projectiles . In addition, the release of other artillery shells and tank rounds according to NATO standards is planned.

At the same time, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala said that by the end of the year, Ukraine will receive 500,000 artillery shells as part of the “Czech initiative” . According to him, the program can be extended in the future if it is possible to get the support of donor countries, since the need for shells for our country remains.
