The capabilities of the Ukrainian defense industry have increased 35 times in three years: over 40% of weapons at the front are domestically produced, – Shmyhal

Since 2022, Ukraine’s defense production capabilities have increased 35 times, and today Ukraine is the most promising market for investments in the defense industry .

As Censor.NET reports with reference to the Ministry of Defense, this was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal .

Thus, according to him, Ukraine is becoming a global center for the production of modern security solutions and is turning into one of the most promising markets for investments in the defense-industrial complex.

“To fulfill the President’s task, we are creating new mechanisms for the development of domestic enterprises. In three years, our defense production capabilities have increased 35 times,” Shmyhal noted.

He emphasized that the Ukrainian defense ecosystem already includes about 900 enterprises (approximately 100 state-owned and 800 private) and about 1,000 teams of engineers and developers who work on innovations every day . And the capabilities of the Ukrainian defense industry in 2025 are estimated at $35 billion.

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine stated that this year the development of the defense industry has reached a new level: joint production is being launched in Ukraine and abroad, investments are being attracted for the systematic scaling of capacities. Already 25 foreign companies, including world giants in the defense industry, are at various stages of localization of production in Ukraine.

Shmyhal added that such projects cover a wide range of defense needs – from traditional artillery to advanced unmanned systems using artificial intelligence.

It is noted that over 40% of weapons on the front today are of Ukrainian production . Ukrainian combat experience and battlefield-tested technologies are of interest to partners around the world. This is evidence of the effectiveness of Ukraine’s approach to building its own industrial potential.

“We are ready to share experience by launching large-scale industrial projects with partners. By doing so, we strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian army and lay the foundation for technological advantage for Ukraine and its allies,” Shmyhal added.
