Currently, repair workshops of the manufacturer are already operating in Ukraine, which service the armored vehicles supplied to the Defense Forces.

The Canadian company Roshel, which manufactures Senator armored vehicles in particular for the needs of the Armed Forces, plans to partially localize its production in Ukraine. Roman Shimonov, the founder and head of the company, told about this in an interview with Defense Archives .

According to him, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the company has produced and delivered to Ukraine more than 1,000 Senator armored vehicles. The deliveries were financed by the governments of several countries – Canada, the USA, Germany and others.

“The decisive moment for Roshel was the creation of a special team to analyze, register and solve any malfunctions or necessary improvements in our vehicles. [Senator armored vehicles] were originally created for law enforcement operations in North America, but the harsh realities of the war in Ukraine required adaptation. We constantly optimized and improved our vehicles in order to face the growing threats,” said Shimonov.

Since Roshel’s armored vehicles have proven themselves well at the front in Ukraine, the manufacturer was flooded with orders from the defense departments of many countries – from Canada itself to South Korea. To cope with this demand, the company is expanding its production capacity, in particular, opening a branch in Germany. But not only there.

“We already have several workshops throughout Ukraine that repair and service our cars. In addition to these services, we are planning to localize part of our production in Ukraine at the final stage,” said the owner of the company, but did not provide details.

According to him, more than 200 refugees from Ukraine currently work at the main Roshel plant in Canada. Many of them want to return to Ukraine and work already in the Ukrainian branch of the company.

  1. That’s probably connected with the German order of 400 aroured transpirts that a US company couldn’t fulfill, because of red tape. Roshel offered to weigh in, but production capacity in Canada is too low, thus the new factories. Since labor is short in Germany right now, additional production in Ukraine is a reasonable move. All in all, a promising development, but it will certainly take time for the first new Senators to be completed. 🤔
