The Ukrainian military has mastered British FV103 Spartan armored personnel carriers.
Our soldiers were trained abroad in the combat use and operation of these machines, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, said.
“Since April, thousands of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been trained for the use and operation of foreign-made weapons and military equipment abroad. To date, they have already mastered 155 mm M777, FH-70, M109, CAESAR and PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery systems, M142 HIMARS anti-aircraft guns, Krab self-propelled guns, as well as a significant number of M113, FV-103, Bushmaster, Senator, armored fighting vehicles. Mastiff, Husky and Wolfhound,” he wrote on Facebook.
The FV103 Spartan was developed in the 1970s as the armored personnel carrier version of the British Army’s CVR(T) family of armored fighting vehicles developed by Alvis plc. The machine entered service with the British military in 1978.

Spartan was equipped with a jaguar 4.2 xk gasoline engine. The length of the armored personnel carrier is 5.16 meters, the width is 2.48 meters. The vehicle can carry seven people: two or three crew members and four or five paratroopers. It is armed with a 7.62mm L37A1 machine gun and smoke grenade launchers. In the British Army, the FV103 was used by small specialist groups such as mortar fire control sections, anti-aircraft gunners and reconnaissance groups.

We will remind you that earlier the Government of the United Kingdom announced that, among other military equipment, it would transfer 35 FV103 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine to help in the fight against the Russian invaders.
