The Russians must prevent a war with Ukraine , it can tear the Russian Federation apart from the inside.

This opinion was expressed by an FSB officer, president of the Alfa Group Officers union, Alexei Filatov, in his blog on the Ekho Moskvy website.

“When we meet with friends – both veterans and civilians – we rarely do not talk about the war. Are there any prerequisites? Is it possible? Will it be? I don’t have a single acquaintance who would like military action and would consider it decision. And if we are talking about the likelihood of a confrontation with Ukraine, then there can be no two opinions: a military clash, even the smallest one, must be avoided,” he writes.

According to Filatov, it’s not even about the sanctions – they can supposedly be postponed.

“The war between the brothers will tear our country apart from the inside. This cannot be allowed. I am sure of this, and all my colleagues with whom we discussed this,” he added.

As previously reported, the head of the All-Russian Officers’ Assembly, retired Colonel General Leonid Ivashov, said that the organization demands that Russian President Vladimir Putin  abandon the criminal policy of provoking war and leave his post.

Russian invasion threat

Since November 2021, Russia has concentrated more than 100,000 troops on the borders with Ukraine. The international community fears that the Kremlin will involve the army and equipment in a full-scale offensive.

With the new threat of Russian aggression in Eastern Europe, the US, Britain and the EU are working on tools to contain Putin’s intentions, in particular through the imposition of tough sanctions.

The United States and a number of European countries agreed to transfer military weapons to the Ukrainian army to protect the sovereignty of the state from a possible new Russian offensive.
