Ex-president Petro Poroshenko said that in 2014 he agreed with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the export of cash from the National Bank from the occupied Crimea.

Poroshenko stated this at a meeting of the Kiev Court of Appeal, which is now considering the petition of his defenders, as well as the prosecution for a measure of restraint for the ex-president, chosen by the Pechersky District Court of Kiev.

“Yes, I gave direct instructions on the movement of cash across the line of contact with the occupied territories. Moreover, I gave the head of the National Bank, the Minister of Internal Affairs and the head of the SBU. in 2014. The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating a criminal scheme for the supply of coal from the temporarily occupied territories and assistance to the terrorist organizations “LPR” and “DPR” by a group of Ukrainian citizens.

Poroshenko is one of the defendants in the case. He is suspected of having assisted the activities of terrorist organizations “LPR” and “DPR” by acting on a prior agreement with a group of persons, in particular with representatives of the top leadership of the Russian Federation.

Criminal proceedings against Poroshenko are being investigated under Part 1 and Part 3 of Art. 258-5 (financing of terrorism), part 1 of Art. 111 (high treason) and part 1 of Art. 258-3 (creation of a terrorist organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

In September-November 2021, people’s deputy from the Opposition Platform for Life Viktar Medvedchuk and former Minister of Energy Volodymyr Demchishin were informed of suspicion in this case .

On January 6, 2022, the Pechersky District Court of Kiev seized Poroshenko’s property and assets .
