During the strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure , the United States of America used a superbomb – the 13-ton GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator – for the first time in real combat conditions, The New York Times writes.
According to the newspaper’s sources, the US used a MOP bomb, also known as a bunker buster. It was likely used to strike the Fordow nuclear research center, hidden in a mountain.
Also, one of the American officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the American B-2 fighter jets that struck Iranian nuclear facilities early Sunday morning flew non-stop for about 37 hours from their base in Missouri, refueling several times in the air.
US attack on Iran – what is known
As UNIAN reported, on the night of June 22, the United States attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities , including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The main facility, Fordow, was hit with a full arsenal of bombs.
