👏 Kaja Kallas is the 🇪🇺 #EuropeanUnion’s new top diplomat!

🇪🇪 #Estonia’s ‘Iron Lady’ is one of the strongest voices in the #EU for uncompromising stands against russia. Her own family from #Estonia was deported under the Soviet Union.

☝️ And in times like today,
In the face of boundless aggression,
We need strength, not compromise.

Kallas will serve as the new High Representative for Foreign Affairs and #Security Policy. The 47-year-old Estonian PM will succeed 77-year-old Spaniard Josep Borrell.

Kallas will be the first Eastern European appointed to such a position.

Still a bit sad she didn’t become Chief #NATO
But this is a good alternative.

I got to meet Kaja Kallas at the #Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin. Her words, support and speeches are inspiring.

But unlike Yana Rudenko, I didn’t dare to ask for a selfie 🤳

👮🏼 Mariana Checheliuk, an policewoman from Mariupol who spent over two years in captivity and was freed from 𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 on May 31, hoped to reunite with her beloved upon her return.

However, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 – 𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚 – “sentenced” Mariupol defender, Vladyslav Andrianov, to 25 years in a penal colony.

They were together in the bunkers of “Azovstal” before the Mariupol defenders received the order to leave the plant.

Vladyslav Andrianov bravely defended Mariupol, served in the 𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐀𝐙𝐎𝐕, survived the 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚 orchestrated in Olenivka on July 18, 2022 (𝟓𝟕 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 were returned, but the exact list of the dead is still unknown).

Mariana said she would fight 𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚 to free her beloved.

I believe love is the strongest power and will help Mariana and Vladyslav overcome 𝐰𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲.

𝐖𝐚𝐫 destroys and creates heartbreaking stories, and this is one of them.
