Details: The delivery of the armoured vehicles and ammunition will begin in May, Robles said during her meeting with Ukraine’s Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. The armoured vehicles will be allocated to Ukraine’s border guards.
“This cooperation demonstrates our country’s commitment to defending democratic values, freedom and a just and lasting peace,” the Spanish minister stated.
Robles also announced that this month the number of Ukrainian soldiers trained in Spain will exceed 9,000.
Background:
- As part of her visit to Kyiv, the Spanish defence minister held a series of meetings with Ukrainian officials aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation. She also took part in a wreath-laying ceremony in honour of Ukraine’s defenders at the Wall of Remembrance on Mykhailivska Square.
- It is worth recalling that Spain plans to provide Ukraine with €1 billion in military assistance in 2026.
