Spain and Greece have refused to transfer to Ukraine interceptor missiles for the MIM-104 Patriot air defense systems, whose service life is set to expire shortly.
The British newspaper The Telegraph reported this, citing its own sources.
Ukraine, as well as representatives of the European Union and NATO, have been trying to persuade Spain and Greece to transfer PAC-2 interceptor missiles, which are capable of shooting down ballistic missiles.
Greece is believed to have at least 200 such missiles. Their 23-year shelf life is coming to an end.
It is unknown how many such missiles are in Spain’s stockpiles, although last month the country’s foreign minister announced that Madrid would transfer five interceptor missiles to Kyiv.
An unnamed source told The Telegraph that Ukraine’s partners are now trying to take a different approach with Spain and Greece, asking, “How can we help you make this decision?”
“It would be logical if at least those interceptor missiles whose expiration dates are approaching were sent to Ukraine,” the source added.
Ukraine receives up to 95% of its missiles for the Patriot systems through a NATO-led program in which European countries provide funding to purchase the interceptors directly from the US.
However, the war in Iran has caused a global shortage that even the US is barely able to fill. According to some estimates, Washington and its allies have used at least 800 interceptor missiles. Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials have stated that over the past four years, Kyiv has received only 600 such missiles.
Earlier this year, the Ukrainian Air Forces stopped publishing daily data on the number of intercepted ballistic missiles amid a deepening supply shortage.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 25, the European Pravda publication wrote, citing sources, that European Union countries would discuss the possibility of yielding their place in line to receive missiles for the Patriot system in favor of Ukraine.
As a reminder, on September 24, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine had secured a new batch of missiles for the Patriot systems. He did not specify the exact number of missiles involved.

Ukraine has great allies… 🤮
Greek people rather like ruZZia and they buy putinaZi propaganda. A Greek businessman told me in 2022 that putler was wrong to invade but “was provoked by the ill-treatment of Russians in east Ukraine.”
Some of them actually believe that they should be allies because of their Orthodox links. They don’t feel that way about Ukraine though.
Not nice people.
Spanish perhaps are less putlerist, but they have a Marxist PM at the moment who comes out with contradictory statements.
Operator Starsky:
Trump has just lifted the sanctions on the russian diesel. Frankly I dont mind if “Agent Krasnov” doesn’t support Ukraine – after all, I never expected him to do anything to help. The question is, when will he finally stop supporting the russian terrorism over and over again?
Both nations don’t belong in NATO, along with Hungary and Slovakia.
Shaun Pinner on Krasnov’s putler fuel deal :
Utter scum. Putin kills Ukrainian children while Trump helps prolong the war.
No accountability is just permission for Putin to keep killing. 🇺🇦
Roman Sheremeta :
Dear Ukrainian people,
I am truly sorry.
I am sorry the US has betrayed you at the most critical time of the war.
I am ashamed of our President, who has sided with the war criminal Putin. I am ashamed of every American who voted for this morally bankrupt man and brought him to power.
It sickens me to know that we have become sponsors of russian terrorism.
I understand that thousands of Ukrainians will die because we didn’t do enough to stop this from happening. One day we will look back at this time as the darkest moment in our history.
Please know that there are still good people in America who will continue to stand against this godless and morally depraved administration.
And we will take back our country.
Roman replying to his own comment :
Two years ago, I predicted that if Trump were to be elected, he would:
1. Block Ukraine trom joining NATO.
2. Cut off aid to Ukraine.
3. Force Ukraine to surrender territory to russia by freezing the war along the front line.
I also said that Trump has no regard for Ukraine. To him, Ukraine is merely an obstacle to a strong relationship with russia.
I was 100% right!
So much for the vaca in Spain next year…KAPOOT
