Sikorsky raised the issue of Hungarian espionage in Ukraine at the NATO ministerial meeting

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski asked during a NATO ministerial meeting whether Hungary was conducting espionage activities on the territory of Ukraine.

He  wrote about this  on the social network X, Censor.NET reports .

“I confirm that at the NATO ministerial meeting in Turkey I asked whether it was true, as Ukraine claims, that Hungarian military intelligence conducted reconnaissance in Subcarpathian Rus’. Both sides must provide evidence on this serious issue. I find it difficult to understand Hungary’s hostility towards occupied Ukraine,” the minister emphasized.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Pétr Szijjártó responded to Sikorsky: “At today’s NATO meeting, Sikorsky — one of the most pro-war politicians — parroted the theses of Ukraine’s discrediting campaign against us. I strongly reject his accusations. This is a coordinated attempt to discredit and silence us regarding Ukraine’s membership in the EU.”

What preceded it?

As a reminder, on May 9, the SBU, for the first time in the history of Ukraine, exposed a Hungarian military intelligence agent network that was spying in Ukraine.

After the SBU’s statement about exposing a Hungarian spy network in Transcarpathia, Budapest announced that it was expelling two Ukrainian diplomats , accusing them of espionage.

Ukraine responded by announcing the expulsion of two Hungarian diplomats .

Also, a former diplomat from Ukraine was detained and expelled from Hungary .

Budapest canceled consultations on national minorities scheduled for May 12 after the SBU’s statement about the exposed spy network of Hungarian intelligence.
