Sikorski proposes seizing EUR 300B worth of Russian assets to stop Kremlin

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has said that the West can beat the Kremlin by re-learning how to champion the escalation game.

The politician said this during a lecture at the British Ditchley Foundation, Ukrinform reports, referring to his posts on X.

“[Russian President Vladimir] Putin will win this war unless we stop him. And we can,” Sikorski said, adding that “contrary to its insane propaganda,” Russia is not invincible, as it has lost its share of wars.

He noted that he was impressed by the approach of the 40th U.S. President Ronald Reagan towards the USSR.

“Ronald Reagan used to say his strategy vis-à-vis Soviet Union was simple if not simplistic: ‘We win, and they lose.’ I like this approach,” Sikorski said.

According to him, to gain an advantage over Russia, it is necessary to re-learn how to champion the escalation game.

“For example, we could be seizing all 300 billion euros of Russian sovereign assets. Putin has already written them off, he does not expect to get them back. But he also doesn’t think we have the fortitude to take hold of them either. So far, we have proven him right,” the politician said, adding that the Kremlin can be stopped, “we just forgot about it.”

He added that Putin regretted the fall of the Soviet Union and he decided to have a re-match.

“A new axis of autocracies is challenging our values, our security and our way of life. Our job is to prevent wider conflict, but also to prevail. Together, as part of an international alliance of democracies, we can do it,” Sikorski said during the lecture.

He noted that if Russia prevails, chronic instability will spread not only across Europe but around the world, “giving extra fuel to a global coalition of dictatorships we can already see emerging.”

  1. 20 BILLION CAN BE USED FOR A TOTAL CLOSED SKY OVER UKRAINE BY AIR-DEFENCE SYSTEMS. STEP ONE.

10 BILLION FOR NEW ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE DESTROYED BY RUSSIA. STEP TWO.

The rest for new housing, schools, hospitals etc.

  2. This could easily be done, and it would be 100% righteous.
I think the main reason why it’s not being done is plain, pure money gluttony by certain individuals, perhaps in the banking or investment sectors.

  3. “NATO officials have “strong suspicions” that Russia may have mined critical EU submarine infrastructure in the North Sea, the British newspaper The Times reported.”

Ok with this solution of frozen funds.

But it is time to open our eyes to the tools to adopt to fight against terrorism from Moscow. Our current responses to threats are completely inadequate. Our passivity is only an encouragement for the Nazis in Moscow to commit more violence in Ukraine and terrorism of all kinds elsewhere.
