The German company Siemens has suspended the contract for the supply of new high-speed electric trains “Sapsan” to Russia.
This was announced by General Director of “Russian Railways” Oleg Bilozerov at a meeting with members of the Federation Council, writes the Russian newspaper “Kommersant”.
According to him, Siemens announced the termination of the contract, which provided for the purchase and maintenance of 13 new trains for a total of 1.1 billion euros. Russia planned to receive the first batch of these trains in 2022.
“Until the last one, we were negotiating, and they were looking for options on how clearly, given the sanctions, they could continue to operate. At present, the service agreement is in force,” Belozerov added.
At the same time, he said that despite the cessation of supplies of new “Peregrines”, Russia has its own manufacturers, which, however, are currently able to produce only some components. Джерело: https://biz.censor.net/n3327724
