The package of bills successfully passed through the troubled House of Representatives on Saturday and is now stuck in the supposedly trouble-free Senate.
The Senate’s procedural vote on the foreign aid bill is being held up by Republicans who complain they can’t propose amendments to it. The Guardian writes about this.

The Senate’s votes Tuesday afternoon will set up a vote on final passage of the package no later than Wednesday night. Senators were supposed to be in recess this week, marking the Passover holiday, but they elected to return and wrap up work on the foreign aid package instead.
Bernie Sanders, an independent senator from Vermont, says he agrees with Lee. In addition, he wants to propose two amendments, one of which would ban the transfer of money to the Israeli “war machine”, and the second would unblock cash assistance to the UN Palestine Relief Agency.
So? Afai know, that’s a different bill than the Ukraine support one. Does he have objections to the deliveries for Ukraine? Certainly not. 😕

While the chamber is expected to have enough support from both parties to pass the legislation, the exact timing for a final vote remains a question as any one senator can slow the process before sending the package to President Joe Biden for his signature, though it is expected to pass by midweek.
On Tuesday, a procedural vote advanced with wide bipartisan support, 80-19, telegraphing that the legislation should easily pass once a final vote occurs.
Senate leaders are trying to cut a deal allowing for a final vote sometime Tuesday, according to sources in both parties.
