Ukraine is not asking America to empty its warehouses. It is not even asking for these missiles for free.
Ukraine is asking to buy a small fraction of the U.S. Patriot interceptor stockpile.
President Zelenskyy put the numbers into perspective.
Ukraine currently has access to roughly 1% of the U.S. stockpile. According to Zelenskyy, if America sells Ukraine 5%, Ukraine can make it through the winter and save lives. If it sells 10%, Ukraine could intercept all russia’s ballistic missiles.
Meanwhile, the situation is moving in exactly the wrong direction.
Ukraine has 2.5 times fewer interceptors than it had in 2025, while Russia is launching roughly twice as many ballistic missiles per month.
And the shortage is becoming deadly. In July alone, russia launched 195 ballistic missiles at Ukraine. Only 29 were intercepted.
Yes, America has its own shortage. The war with Iran consumed a huge share of U.S. Patriot interceptor reserves.
But Ukraine is not asking for half of what remains.
It is asking to buy 5%.
Five percent to protect Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. To defend power plants and critical infrastructure. To help millions of civilians get through another winter of russian attacks.
Sell Ukraine the missiles. Save lives.

“Speak russian or die!”
A Ukrainian soldier, Viktor Prylypenko, posted a photo in 2023 of a russian bulletproof vest, saying: “Speak russian or die!” The really scary part is that the russians actually mean it.
The pretext of the russian invasion was to “liberate” russian speaking people from the Ukrainian oppression. So, if you speak russian, but for some reason you chose not to, then you must be eliminated. The peak of this absurdity is that russians will call anyone a Nazi who don’t want to speak russian.
Recently, a friend of mine shared a story that he was called a Nazi by his former acquaintance from russia, because my friend didn’t want to speak russian. I was not surprised at all, since I have already been called a Nazi several times because in a public conversation with russians I refused to speak russian, but rather chose either Ukrainian or English.
The russians are killing and torturing us because we want to be Ukrainians and speak Ukrainain language. It is precisely their actions that alienated us from the russian language.
Since the full scale invasion, the use of the Ukrainian language in daily conversations has increased from 66% to nearly 80%, while the russian language is becoming obsolete in Ukraine.

Controlled jet-powered Shaheds operating over Odesa region are now a battlefield reality, creating a new threat not only to fixed infrastructure but increasingly to moving targets such as railway locomotives and, potentially, road cargo transport.
That danger was made brutally clear by the recent strike on the Odesa–Dnipro train, where the locomotive crew was killed. Faster drones with improved control give Russian operators less predictable flight paths and Ukrainian defenders less time to detect, track and intercept them.
Ukraine is already working on the answer. Faster interceptor drones are expected to become increasingly available specifically to counter jet-powered UAVs, but developing them, producing them at scale and getting them into frontline air-defense units takes time.
And that is increasingly what this war has become: a race between innovation and counter-innovation.
One side introduces a faster drone. The other builds a faster interceptor. New electronic warfare appears, drones adapt. Defenses improve, attack systems change again.
The advantage belongs increasingly to whoever can identify the new threat, adapt faster and manufacture the answer at scale.
Ukraine has repeatedly proven it can innovate under pressure.
Now the race against the jet-powered Shahed is underway.

Russia has begun importing gasoline from India for the first time amid a severe shortage caused by Ukrainian attacks.
The first shipment of Indian gasoline arrived in russia on August 5. It amounted to approximately 42,000 tons of fuel.
The gasoline is supplied by Indian company Nayara Energy, which is partly controlled by russia’s Rosneft. The fuel is transported to russia on russian vessels via transshipment near Egypt.

Defense should not be outsourced.
Learning from hard lessons, Ukraine is gaining defense independence.
In the 𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚’𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥-𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞, we don’t believe in humanity, human rights global organizations, the power of diplomacy, or even economic sanctions (they’re too political). But we believe in our long-range sanctions.
We were asking for help, support, and military aid, and at the beginning we barely received Javelins and 5,000 helmets. We waited over two years for F-16s.
But our defense cannot be dependent on others — on their decisions, their domestic politics, political moods, and the effect of years-long m0scow propaganda. Why should someone support you, sacrifice something for you?
Life is cruel.
A hard lesson for Ukraine. A hard lesson for Europe.
