Scholz hinted that he would not change his decision even if the US lifted the ban on using its weapons to strike Russian territory.

German Chancellor  Olaf Scholz will not give the Ukrainian Armed Forces permission to strike targets deep inside Russian territory with German weapons, even if the allies allow it.

“It will remain so… even if other countries decide otherwise,” Scholz said, referring to the United States or European countries. “I will not do this because I think it is a problem,” he added, Welt writes .

Scholz mentioned reports that the US authorities may lift such restrictions, and noted that not all assumptions are true. In this regard, the publication noted that in recent months, the US and Germany have very closely coordinated their arms supplies to Ukraine. In addition, these countries are the largest suppliers of weapons to Ukraine.

The Chancellor assured that Germany will continue to provide military support to Ukraine so that it does not fall apart. “Ukraine will have a stronger army than before,” Scholz stated.

He also expressed the opinion that the end of the war can only happen if Putin recognizes that Ukraine is not a vassal state.

Scholz also accused Putin of endangering his country’s future by attacking Ukraine. “This war is also extremely stupid from Russia’s point of view,” he said, adding that in the name of his imperialist dreams, Putin is condemning hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers to serious injuries, deaths, and destroying Russia’s economic relations with the world.

Permission to strike on the territory of the Russian Federation

Ukraine has long been asking its Western allies for permission to strike their weapons at military facilities deep inside Russian territory. This issue has now come up with renewed vigor. The leaders of some European countries, as well as Canada, have stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces must receive this permission.

Ukraine’s key allies – Germany and the United States – do not support this permission. However, recently, information has begun to appear in the media that US President Joe Biden is close to a decision to allow the use of American weapons against distant targets on Russian territory.

  1. This is not even newsworthy. This was to be expected. It would’ve been newsworthy if Scholz had grown a set of balls in the meantime and would give Ukraine permission AND the means to do so. But, for some people, once a dickless coward, always a dickless coward, and Germany has LOTS of dickless cowards these days.
