The head of the annexed peninsula, Sergei Aksyonov, has yet to comment on the strike on the refinery overnight on Oct. 6, but found time to congratulate Vladimir Putin on his birthday, calling him “an outstanding leader of our time,” the report said.

Journalists noted that the Feodosia refinery is the largest in occupied Crimea, with an annual capacity of 12 million tons of petroleum products and storage facilities for 250,000 tons. It had previously come under Ukrainian attacks.

“Due to the lack of wind, the smoke, which had been passing over the village for the past two days at a high altitude, has now descended close to the ground,” the post read.

On Monday, Oct. 6, Crimean Wind, citing satellite imagery, said two major fire centers were recorded at the oil terminal in Feodosia after the nighttime drone attack in occupied Crimea.

“The facilities of JSC Marine Oil Terminal (Feodosia, temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea) were hit,” the General Staff said.

It added that the complex is a multifunctional technological hub for transferring oil and petroleum products between rail tank cars, sea vessels, and road transport, and that the Feodosia oil terminal is used to supply the Russian occupation army.

On Oct. 7, Crimean Wind reported that the fire at the Feodosia refinery was still burning and had spread to additional storage tanks.

  1. I’m not a fan of pollution, but this sort of pollution is necessary. Good job, Ukraine!
