On the night of Saturday, September 20, drones attacked Saratov. Their target was the Saratov Oil Refinery ( NPZ ), formerly known as the Cracking Plant.
A fire broke out at the refinery, which is part of the Rosneft oil company, as a result of the strikes. The corresponding footage was published online.
What is known about the attack?
The Governor of the Saratov Region, Roman Busargin, reported at 01:11 that information about the UAV threat had been received from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“Locally, warning systems can operate in places of possible threat. All emergency services are on full alert,” he wrote.
Soon, sirens were turned on in Saratov, and local residents wrote online about the sounds of UAVs flying overhead and attempts by Russian air defenses to engage targets.
Meanwhile, Rosaviatsia has imposed restrictions on the acceptance and release of aircraft at Saratov’s Gagarin Airport.



After a detailed analysis of the available materials regarding the Saratov Oil Refinery, experts concluded with high probability that the impact occurred not on the production facilities, but on the overpass in the area with coordinates 51.4510973, 45.9399270.

UAVs continue to strike enemy refineries
As OBOZ.UA reported, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with other units of the Defense Forces, struck the Saratov Oil Refinery on the night of Tuesday, September 16. Explosions and a fire were recorded in the area of the target.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the destruction of another Russian refinery. They noted that the results of the strike are being clarified.
Also, drones of the Security Service of Ukraine struck Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat , one of the largest oil refining and petrochemical plants in Russia. The drones traveled 1,400 km to reach Bashkortostan.
OBOZ.UA learned about another successful operation by the SBU from its own sources. According to preliminary information, the UAVs hit the ELOU-AVT-4 installation – the heart of the plant .
In addition, on the night of September 18, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the Volgograd Oil Refinery, which is the largest fuel and lubricants producer in the Southern Federal District of the Russian Federation. According to preliminary information, its work has been suspended .
This was reported by the press service of the SSO. “Special operations forces continue to inflict asymmetric actions in order to stop the enemy,” representatives of the Ukrainian defense forces noted.
