The Russian president is taking desperate measures

Russian leader Vladimir Putin, in desperation, ordered an attack on a passenger train near the border with Poland. However, this did not scare NATO — support for Ukraine will continue, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said at a briefing with Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša, according to the NATO website.

Rutte reacts to Russia’s attack on the train

Rutte said Russia’s attack on a Ukrainian passenger train demonstrates the Kremlin leader’s desperation.

According to the NATO secretary general, Russia is becoming increasingly reckless in continuing its war against Ukraine.

“The strike on a passenger train in Ukraine yesterday shows how desperate Putin has become. He thinks that he can stop us from supporting Ukraine. And that he can undermine our unity. He is wrong,” Rutte said.

The allies’ response will be to increase support for Ukraine so that the country has everything it needs to defend itself, he said.

Rutte also promised that NATO would do everything possible to protect every inch of the territory of its member states.

Russia attacks a locomotive

On September 13, Russia attacked the locomotive of a passenger train near the border with Poland. The train station in Yahodyn, Volyn region, came under attack.

Amid Russia’s strikes on Ukraine, the Polish military also detected increased air activity. Residents of the Lublin and Podkarpackie voivodeships were warned of the danger.

It was also reported that Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov ignored direct accusations against Russia from Ukraine and the European Union over the incident.
