Ukraine is poised to expand its aerial intelligence capabilities with the addition of the new German-made Wingcopter 262 reconnaissance drone, according to German manufacturer Wingcopter GmbH.
The system features a tactical operational range of up to 150 kilometers, a maximum flight endurance of up to six hours, and a maximum takeoff weight of just 10 kilograms.
The aircraft is equipped with artificial-intelligence-assisted electro-optical and infrared camera systems, secure data and video transmission channels, and positioning technology that has undergone testing in real operational environments during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Built with a modular design, the drone aims to ensure rapid deployment while keeping the operational workload for personnel to a minimum. The system features a tilt-rotor design, a fully electric propulsion mechanism, and a wingspan of 262 centimeters, which gives the platform its name.
The setup does not require specialized launch infrastructure, enabling a single operator to prepare the aircraft for flight within minutes.
Beyond direct supply plans, Wingcopter is partnering with Ukrainian firm TAF Industries under the “Build with Ukraine” initiative.
“The cooperation concerns the serial production of Ukrainian reconnaissance drones and providing Ukraine with access to the Wingcopter 262,” company representatives stated.
Earlier, German defense company ARX Robotics announced it would deliver several hundred additional GEREON unmanned ground vehicles to Ukraine under a new contract focused on expanding robotic logistics and casualty evacuation capabilities near the front line.
