The adviser to the head of the OP added details about the situation in the city of Kurakhovo:

“Enemy forces are razing the city to the ground and destroying civilian infrastructure.”

According to military analyst Denis Popovich, the enemy expected that as a result of the explosion of the Kurakhovsky reservoir dam in the Donetsk region, roads would be flooded and, accordingly, the logistics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces would be hampered , but this did not happen.

There is currently a threat of encirclement of Kurakhovo. According to military expert Ivan Stupak, the period of stay of Ukrainian defenders in this city is measured in weeks.

The Kurakhovskaya TPP in Donetsk Oblast was shut down last spring after a powerful Russian shelling. The Wall Street Journal wrote that after the shutdown, the Kurakhovskaya TPP was dismantled for repairs to other Ukrainian power plants. It is noted that after the powerful attacks on Ukraine’s energy structure, the situation was critical and DTEK was looking for equipment in other countries, but deliveries continued for months.

Therefore, it was necessary to dismantle the Kurakhovskaya TPP, which was constantly shelled by the Russians – because of this, it was impossible to restore its infrastructure. Thanks to this, it was possible to restore more than 60% of the energy capacity that Ukraine lost after the Russian shelling. Earlier, DTEK stated that the TPP could be restored when the security situation was favorable.
