The Russian army continues to disregard international humanitarian law.

Russians continue to kill Ukrainian prisoners of war. Another video of the probable execution of unarmed Ukrainian servicemen captured by Russians is being distributed on social networks. This was reported by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets.

“The released video shows at least 5 likely killed prisoners of war. Once again we see the cynical disregard for international humanitarian law on the part of the Russian army,” he noted.

The ombudsman said he had sent letters to the UN and the ICRC to ensure that the war crime was recorded.

“Those who give orders and carry out such atrocities must be held strictly accountable,” he added.

Let us recall that, as part of the ceasefire negotiations, Ukraine insists on the exchange of prisoners of war , the release of Ukrainian civilians and the return of children forcibly displaced from Ukraine.

As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated, the release of Ukrainian prisoners should be one of the first steps towards ending the war:

“Ending the war must begin with steps that restore trust in the situation itself. Because there is no trust in the Russian Federation… And now such a step could be the release of prisoners. Thousands. Thousands of people who are being held in Russia. And some of them not only since 2022, but much earlier, since 2014. Russia must release the Ukrainians.”
