Russians Bombard Putin with Awkward Questions in Annual Q&A

Vladimir Putin has faced the Russian public in a televised Q&A session, where he was asked about the war in Ukraine that he started and “when will our lives get better?”

The Direct Line event takes place annually, but was cancelled last year amid the war in Ukraine. For Thursday’s events, citizens across the country are given the chance to submit questions, which are likely to be carefully vetted by the Kremlin.

Putin kicked off the broadcast, which typically lasts several hours, with the comment that “Russia’s existence without sovereignty is simply impossible.”

A poll earlier this month showed that the main topic Russians wanted to ask Putin about was when the so-called “special military operation” in Ukraine might end and this was one of the questions the president faced.

“There will be peace when Russia meets its goals, which haven’t changed,” Putin said (via The Moscow Times). One question displayed on a video screen asks: “Tell us, when will our lives get better?”

  1. One question displayed on a video screen asks: “Tell us, when will our lives get better?”

The orcs have been asking that question for over 100 years. Do they expect the dwarf terrorist to answer that one? Just be good little orcs and join the egg queue, tomorrow you will have a glorious future.

  2. In contrast, that great friend of Ukraine (sarc.) the NYT, has produced a sickening, detailed report on the putinaZi shit show that shows enormous respect to “Mr Putin” as if he was a normal person, rather than a bloodthirsty nazi tyrant; already one of the most evil in history.
Will try to lift it from behind the paywall.

    • The New York Slimes has always been that way with leftist tyrants. Duranty was given the Pulitzer prize for his lies about Stalinist Russia and it was never withdrawn after it was clear that the article was nothing but a pack of lies. NYT has a long history of such garbage. It’s every bit as bad as Larry Johnson.

      • You’re conflating 2 different things. The NY Times has a style guide to which their articles have to conform. I just do the substitution in my head – “putler” for “Mr. Putin”, “trumpkov” for “Mr. Trump”, etc.

Regarding Walter Duranty, it’s the Pulitzer board that gave him the award, and has twice declined to withdraw it. The NY Times has been publicly acknowledging Duranty’s failures for around 40 years.

    • “Russia’s existence without sovereignty is simply impossible.”

He is obviously including the Donbas and the Crimea if not all of Ukraine. That is really sick to think you own something that out of 1,000 years you only…forcibly….occupied it for about 70 of those 1,000 years. This is why negotiations with a mad man won’t work.

      • Here it is Larry:

“In Annual News Conference, Putin Says His War Aims Have Not Changed”

“The Russian leader has been taking questions for nearly two hours, albeit in a closely controlled setting. When asked about Ukraine, he suggested that Western support for the country was drying up.”

Of course it may have been edited by now, but it’s worth a look.
What I disliked was the overly respectful tone to a filthy murderer. :-

“Asked by one of the news conference’s moderators when the war will end, Mr. Putin said: “If they don’t want to talk, then we are forced to take other measures, including military ones.” He added that he saw no need for another military draft because, he claimed, some 500,000 people had signed up for military service voluntarily. “Why do we need mobilization?” Mr. Putin said. “Today, there’s no need for it.”

  3. So far i did hope for negotiations, i would even be in favor of giving up the occupied territories, but the RUS-Nazi demands a ‘neutral’ status for raped and abused Ukraine… A peace deal must include Ukraine’s Nato membership or the war will continue until RuSSia falls apart!
