Russian TV channel Dozhd cut out words about “new Russian fascism” from Yatsenyuk’s interview

The politician accused the President of Russia of preaching fascism.

Russia’s Dozhd TV channel said in an interview with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk that Russian President Vladimir Putin “began to preach the ideology of the new Russian fascism . ” This was announced on Facebook by the press secretary of the politician Olga Lappo. She also published an excerpt from a video that was not included in the interview she  posted on her Rain website.

In the full version, in particular, there are no words:  “I feel sorry for the Russian people. Vladimir Putin has recently begun to preach the ideology of the new Russian fascism. […] The trouble is that the Russian leadership has led a new Russian national fascism . “

“Censorship of these phrases about Putin raises obvious rejection and questions about the objectivity (courage?) Of the channel’s editorial board ,” said Olga Lappo.

However, the channel left Yatsenyuk’s statements in which he compared the occupation of Crimea with the occupation of territories by Adolf Hitler during World War II, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s statements on the protection of the Russian-speaking population – with the same slogans of Hitler on the protection of the German population. were occupied.

Note that cutting out part of the interview may be related to Russia’s law on countering extremist activities. In particular, such activities are considered to be “knowingly false” accusations of extremism by a government official. For violating the law (promoting extremism or disseminating extremist material), the media may ban activities in Russia.

Dozhd is supposed to an independent TV channel in Russia, yet they need to doctor a video to appease Putler. I would say Dozhd are just another Kremlin mouthpiece that won’t publish the truth. Had the interview contained references about Ukrainian nazis, I have no doubt it would have been included in the video.

    • Dozhd is hanging on by a thread in Moskovia. They have been bordering “extremist” for many months. I imagine they have Kremlin censors just like in the old days of Pravda.

  2. I’m sure that if Ruskies want the news (truthful news) they won’t be watching anything from within mafia land. The WWW makes it possible to look elsewhere.
