Russian occupiers massively attacked Odessa region: there is a dead and many wounded

On the night of November 8, Russian invaders launched a massive drone strike on Odessa and the Odessa region. According to preliminary data, one person was killed and nine others were injured.

As reported by the Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine, this night the enemy carried out a massive attack by drones “Shahed-136” in the Odessa region. There is damage to civilian infrastructure, as well as victims and injured among the civilian population.

The press service of the regional headquarters of the State Emergency Service reported that, according to preliminary information, one person died as a result of the attack, and another 9 people were injured.

“In the private sector, residential buildings were damaged. A fire broke out in two residential buildings. Psychologists from the State Emergency Service provided assistance to 15 people, including a child and a pregnant woman. Rescuers also extinguished fires in warehouses and put out burning cars of one of the enterprises. The building of an educational institution was damaged,” the press service said.

It is said that the pyrotechnic unit of the State Emergency Service conducted inspections of the territories for the presence of explosive objects. Together with the rescuers, the fires were extinguished by volunteers from the Association of Voluntary Firefighters of Ukraine and the fire unit of the National Guard of Ukraine.

As specified by the head of the Odessa Regional State Administration Oleg Kiper , a 46-year-old man, who was driving a car during the attack, died as a result of shrapnel wounds. Among the victims is a 91-year-old woman who has an acute reaction to stress.

Six of the injured were hospitalized. The rest were given assistance on the spot. People write on social networks that the man who died left behind a wife and three children.

The city mayor’s office press service released a video showing the aftermath of the Russian attack. It shows destroyed residential buildings, a disfigured school, and the like. There are almost no surviving items in the houses hit by the occupiers’ drones, there are holes in the roofs, and the walls have collapsed. The school is unfit for teaching, and property is smashed.

Consequences of the Russian attack in the Odessa region

The Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office clarified that the Russian armed forces carried out a massive attack using UAVs in Odessa and its suburbs.

“More than 20 private homes, an educational institution, a gas pipeline, storage facilities of a private enterprise and cars were damaged. The inspection continues, a full list of destruction and damage is being established. At the scene of the events, prosecutors, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, are documenting the consequences of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation,” the report says.
