On February 12, in the area of ​​​​the Kuril Island Urup, where the planned exercises of the forces of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) of Russia took place, a Virginia-class submarine of the US Navy was discovered . This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The crew of the submarine was given the message “You are in the territorial waters of Russia. Come up immediately!”

The crew of the submarine ignored the request, in connection with which the Russian frigate “Marshal Shaposhnikov” used “appropriate means.” What those funds were, the Ministry of Defense did not specify.

The American submarine used a self-propelled simulator to double the target on radar and acoustic control means and left the territorial waters of the Russian Federation at maximum speed.

Because of this incident, the Defense Attaché at the US Embassy in Moscow was summoned to the Russian Defense Ministry. He was handed a note, stating that the American submarine grossly violated international law and posed a threat to the national security of the Russian Federation.

The Russian Ministry of Defense insists on the need for the United States to take measures to prevent such situations in the future. The Russian Ministry of Defense reserves the right to take all possible measures in its territorial sea to ensure the security of the Russian Federation.

In June 2021, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that a British destroyer had violated the Russian border in the Black Sea. According to the agency, the Russian coast guard ship opened warning fire, and the Su-24M aircraft carried out a “warning bombing” at the destroyer’s course, after which it left Russian territorial waters.

The British Ministry of Defense denied that bombs were dropped at the destroyer’s course. It argued that the ship was in Ukrainian territorial waters and did not violate international law. 

Because of the incident, the British ambassador in Moscow  was summoned  to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
