In Russia, children were given not cups, medals, or even sweets for winning a snowboarding tournament. Schoolchildren were “rewarded” with notebooks, ketchup and mayonnaise.

“Generous” gifts were handed out to children in the city of Kirov, according to the Russian edition  “Rise” .

Thus, a snowboarding tournament among schoolchildren was held at the Kalinka Winter Recreation Center. The winning children were given ketchup or mayonnaise and a notebook as prizes. Photos with “happy” schoolchildren and their “generous” prizes angered the network.

In the comments, the Russians accused the organizers of the competition of greed and cynicism. However, they hastened to justify themselves and noted that there was nothing wrong with such gifts. 

“For five years we gave these gifts for participation. The year before last, we also gave bread and sausage from our partners, plus ketchup, there was a whole set for sandwiches, everyone was very happy. Unfortunately, this year it was not possible to add them. We are a sponsor, five years already delivers gifts: sometimes jams, sometimes mayonnaises, ketchups. Everyone is happy. We don’t choose gifts, they give us, we take them. These are city-level competitions, they are included in the calendar plan. But there was no support from the administration and the government, nor in what organizational matters they did not participate. These competitions are fully organized at the expense of sponsors and private partners,” the organizers told the publication.

Earlier, UNIAN already reported that in Russia a wheelchair user went out to clear the road from snow . The man decided to pick up a shovel, as he could not get to his car.
