On Thursday, May 23, a little girl died in an Odesa hospital. On April 29, during the attack of the Russian Federation on the coast, she was seriously wounded in the heart – the city was attacked by a rocket with a cluster warhead that hit the Palace of Students of the National University “Odesa Law Academy”. known as “Harry Potter’s Castle”.

“Terrible news… Little Zlata, who was injured as a result of enemy shelling in Odessa on April 29, died in the hospital today. She was only 4.5 years old,” said Odessa Mayor Genadiy Trukhanov .

According to him, the doctors did everything possible to save the child’s life, the whole Odesa prayed for her, but the injuries were very serious.

“My deepest condolences to the parents and family of little Zlata… Russia is a terrorist country,” the mayor emphasized.

The death of the child was also confirmed by the head of Odesa OVA Oleg Kiper.

“Unfortunately, the number of victims of the Russian shelling on April 29 has increased to 8 people. Zlata died in the hospital, a fragment of a Russian rocket hit the child’s heart. Our doctors fought to the last… There is nothing worse than the death of a child,” the official wrote in Telegram .

Russian attack on Odesa on April 29

As UNIAN reported, on the evening of April 29, the terrorist army of the Russian Federation launched a missile attack on the coastal zone of Odessa – one of the elite districts of the city. At that time, there were many people who were relaxing, especially after a working day. Later it became known that the strike was caused by a ballistic missile with a cluster warhead. The cluster munitions scattered over 1.5 km. As a result, 5 civilians died (two of them died in the hospital), more than 30 were injured. Later, another seriously injured person died in the hospital . 

As a result of the attack, the Palace of Students of the National University “Odesa Law Academy”, known as “Harry Potter’s Castle”, was significantly damaged. 25 civilian cars, 20 private residential buildings, infrastructure facilities, etc. were also damaged.

Among the wounded were two children (a 16-year-old boy and a girl who is not yet 5 years old).

The relatives of the little girl Zlata appealed to the people of Odessa for help, but they did not ask for money – they asked for prayers for her salvation.

Among the injured are also a pregnant woman and former People’s Deputy Serhii Kivalov, who is the founder and ex-rector of the Odesa Law Academy, as well as the president of the International Humanitarian University (MSU). Borys Vasiliev, vice-rector of Moscow State University, died on the territory of the palace. The seventh victim became known on May 8 – a boy born in 2001 died in the hospital.
