President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine will definitely strike Russia in response to the massive attack on Kyiv on July 2.
Zelenskyy stated this in a comment to journalists, Censor.NET reports .
Russia’s response
” Putin is losing this war. That’s what’s happening. He clearly understands that he can intimidate people and simply destroy the civilian population with missile strikes. Putin is afraid of chaos, he needs muscle, and he doesn’t have muscle on the battlefield. We need to understand that there may be an escalation. Of course, he has elections, he has elections in September. And our politicians should not forget, not us. We need to defend our state. We are for a just peace, a just end to the war. And while he is gone, we are for just answers. The Russian Federation will receive a response for today’s strike on Kyiv – that’s for sure ,” the president said.
Missiles for “Patriots”
Zelensky also said that Ukraine needs at least 140 Patriot missiles to intercept about 70 ballistic missiles. The president said that Ukraine does not have enough Patriot missiles to repel massive ballistic attacks.
” We are fighting ourselves. The victims are exclusively Ukrainian. We simply need our partners to do what they agreed to. Because we don’t even ask for more ,” Zelensky added.
Massive shelling of Kyiv on July 2
On the night of July 2, 2026, Russia launched a massive combined attack on Kyiv, using strike drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles. Explosions rang out for several hours, and air defense forces worked on aerial targets over the capital.
According to the latest confirmed data:
- at least 18 people died;
- nearly 90 were injured, including two children;
- more than 20 residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were damaged;
- Rescue operations continued at many locations. People are being searched under the rubble. Including a 15-year-old girl and her family.
Several areas of the capital suffered the greatest damage, including:
- Darnytskyi;
- Desnyansky;
- Svyatoshinsky;
- Solomyansky;
- Holosievsky;
- Pechersky;
- Podolsky;
- Obolonsky.

It’s not possible for me to hit the like button at this kind of news. What nation is going to be the first to deploy patriot crews to protect the Ukrainians? I sure wish mine would.
Sometimes we hit ‘like’ to show appreciation of the searching and work to present the story. I agree Richard, there should be MULTIPLE nations with boots on the ground and planes in the air defending the noble Ukrainians. The scourge of the ruzzian horde MUST be eradicated from the territory of Ukraine to stop this genocide of the Ukrainian people.
