Russia threatens UK with ‘tough’ response to sanctions

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told his British counterpart Elizabeth Truss that Moscow would respond harshly to London’s sanctions. He called the possible introduction of restrictions by Britain ” an act of aggression.”

This was reported by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

As stated in the press service of the Russian diplomatic department, Lavrov, at a meeting with Truss, noted the unsatisfactory situation in relations between the countries. He also stated that it was unacceptable to increase sanctions pressure on Russia, promising an ” adequate and proportionate” response.

“Possible anti-Russian sanctions, which, according to the new amendments to British law, can apply to any individual or legal entity connected in one way or another with the Russian state, if they are introduced, can be regarded only as an act of aggression,” the message says.

On February 10, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the discussion of Ukraine with British Foreign Minister Liz Truss ” a conversation between the dumb and the deaf.”

Liz Truss, in turn, noted that she ” was definitely not dumb in our conversation.”

The threat of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

Russia has been pulling troops to the Ukrainian borders since the end of October 2021. According to Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, as of February 7, there are a total of 140,000 military personnel along the borders of Ukraine from Russia, Belarus and ORDLO .

The US State Department believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin may decide to invade Ukraine before mid-February. According to Western media, Russia has completed ” final preparations for the invasion .” At the same time, NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said that the Ukrainian authorities do not see a direct threat of Russian invasion . According to him, a full-scale invasion is physically impossible and there is no reason to panic.

The situation along the eastern Ukrainian border is causing concern among US and European officials. According to US President Joe Biden, the White House is preparing a set of tough measures to prevent a new Russian invasion of Ukraine .

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claims that Russia is not interested in war , but will not allow its ” security interests ” to be neglected . The Kremlin demands guarantees from the United States and NATO that Ukraine will not join the Alliance and states that the transfer of troops is an internal affair of the Russian Federation.

Yes Lavrov, the act of aggression for these sanctions to be implemented is if Russia invade Ukraine.

  2. Unreal. Maybe Russia should respond by sanctioning Britain. Lavrov is the pure definition of asshole. Ok maybe his boss is but he come in a close second

  3. What possible response by mafia land could be considered tough?
I think that Mr. Horseface is sweating bullets. If mafia land’s oligarchs get their assets taken away, then there will be real trouble in Moscow. And, Liarov will have to worry about more than just losing his cushy job. That’s why he’s acting so agitated.

    • He’s agitated because he got told a few home truths by Truss. He realised he wasn’t talking to Macron, but a woman with a bigger pair than the Frog appeaser.

    • Putin will not get to Kyiv, neither will Russia. All this provocation is to scare the hell out of the appeasers in the EU. Ukrainians are just getting on with life.

      • I hope you are correct. The 2014 invasion also resulted from ‘military exercises’. In a few days we will know more, in particular you. Stay safe.

        • Ukraine had no army in 2014, also Putler is not one to signal what he will do, he’s a sly bastard who denies everything, that’s why I think this is a gigantic bluff. At least Ukraine found out who it’s real friends are, not that we didn’t know already.
