Russia refused to initiate an international investigation into the killings of civilians in Bucha

Russia will not initiate an international investigation into the events in Ukraine at the UN, including evidence of massacres of civilians in the city of Bucha . This was announced to RIA Novosti by the director of the department of international organizations of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Petr Ilyichev.

According to him, Moscow doubts the impartiality of the investigation in these matters.

So far, this topic has not been raised at the UN. We need to look at what kind of investigation it might be, who will conduct it. Unfortunately, the experience of previous investigations, including through the ICC , shows an extremely biased position.

Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that Russia rejects allegations of involvement in the killings of civilians in Bucha and advocates discussing the events in Bucha “at the highest possible level” – in the UN Security Council. Vladimir Putin called the killings in Bucha a “provocation” and a “fake”.

In mid-March, the International Court of Justice in The Hague considered a lawsuit initiated by Kiev against Moscow and demanded to stop the war in Ukraine .
