The number of wounded Special Military Operation (SVO) participants is rising catastrophically

Russian military hospitals can no longer accommodate all those wounded in the war against Ukraine. Therefore, Russian forces are secretly being treated in ordinary medical facilities, according to The Moscow Times.

Russia secretly treats military personnel

Participants in the war against Ukraine are increasingly being treated and rehabilitated in ordinary civilian hospitals:

• Free of charge,
• Without waiting in line.

Entire departments are being specially converted for them with a special secrecy regime.

Medical workers from St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl region, and Siberia told the outlet about the creation of such closed departments.

At the end of May 2023, the authorities promised to transfer nearly 5,000 beds in 27 civilian hospitals in 11 regions, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, and Sevastopol, to the Defense Ministry.

However, the decision was not officially announced, and the list of hospitals remains unknown, Vot Tak notes.

According to medical workers, one of the hospitals in the Yaroslavl region has had two closed departments for participants in the war against Ukraine since 2024. Up to 70 people are treated there.

A traumatologist at one of the city hospitals in Siberia said that doctors and nurses in such departments sign non-disclosure agreements.

“All the documentation is also classified. Even the medical records do not contain the first name, last name, and patronymic; there is only a number,” she said.

There are not enough beds

According to estimates by Vot Tak, there are currently at least 58,300 beds in military medical facilities across Russia. Nearly 1 million wounded people can receive treatment there each year, but there are still not enough beds.

According to doctors, the presence of military personnel in civilian hospitals affects the availability of medical care for other patients. It is becoming more difficult for them to see specialists.

According to estimates by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), total Russian army losses during the full-scale war through June of this year amounted to 1.4 million people. At least 450,000 people were killed, while the rest suffered severe injuries or went missing.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Russians were receiving mobilization orders en masse at military enlistment offices. This will enable the aggressor country to urgently summon hundreds of thousands of men to assembly points.

It was also reported that Russian conscripts are increasingly facing problems when attempting to leave the country.
