Russia recognizes the independence of the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk “people’s republics”. Russian President Vladimir Putin made the corresponding statement in a televised address.

Putin and the leaders of “Donetsk People’s Republic” and the “Luhansk People’s Republic” signed the relevant documents.

The Russian president also signed cooperation agreements with those republics.

Meanwhile, the European Union may impose sanctions against Russia if the so-called ‘DPR’ and ‘LPR’ are recognized. This was stated by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell.

“If there is annexation, there will be sanctions, and if there is recognition, I will put the sanctions on the table and the ministers will decide,” the EU’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said.

  1. This measure is insignificant drivel and nothing more. The West should treat it as such. It’s only the rodent’s way out of his troop build-up dilemma.
