At night, Russian occupiers launched an air strike on the civilian infrastructure of the city of Sumy , resulting in a fire, with casualties and deaths.
As noted in a message on the Telegram channel of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, as a result of the fire, smoke was observed in the air in certain microdistricts of the city.
“Therefore, city residents are asked to close windows and doors tightly and, if possible, not to leave their buildings until the consequences of the enemy attack have been completely eliminated,” the OVA noted, adding that all emergency rescue services are working to eliminate the consequences.
At the same time, the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office reports that at around 01:30 the enemy launched an airstrike on an enterprise in the city of Sumy.
“As a result of the attack by the occupiers, nine people were wounded, according to preliminary data. The elimination of the consequences of the fire is currently underway,” the statement said.
Under the procedural guidance of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation is being conducted into the violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The Prosecutor General’s Office clarified that the strike damaged an enterprise that manufactures packaging for baby food, juices, household chemicals, etc.
As the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykola Oleshchuk noted in his Telegram channel, on the night of August 30, the enemy launched an attack with an Iskander-M ballistic missile from Crimea and 18 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk areas – Russia.
“As a result of the air battle, 12 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs were shot down, four were locally lost (fell on their own),” he said.
Oleshchuk also noted that air defense was operating in the Vinnytsia, Nikolaev, Dnepropetrovsk, Kherson and Sumy regions.
Updated at 11:33. Later, the Sumy regional prosecutor’s office reported that a 48-year-old woman who was wounded during an airstrike in Sumy had died in the hospital.
Updated at 12:36 p.m. Rescuers found the body of a 37-year-old woman under the rubble , bringing the death toll from the strike to two.
